It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Pakistan Academic Forum for Editors and Publishers (PAFEP). This forum has been established with a clear purpose: to strengthen the standards, integrity, and global presence of academic publishing through professional collaboration and continuous capacity building.

In today’s rapidly evolving research environment, editors and publishers carry a critical responsibility. The credibility of scholarly knowledge depends on transparent editorial processes, rigorous peer review, and strong ethical practices. PAFEP aims to serve as a shared platform where professionals in academic publishing can connect, learn, and grow together while adopting internationally recognized standards.

About Us

The Pakistan Academic Forum for Editors and Publishers (PAFEP) is a professional platform established to support, connect, and empower academic editors and publishers across Pakistan and the wider scholarly community. The forum is committed to promoting excellence, transparency, and integrity in academic publishing by encouraging the adoption of international editorial and peer-review standards.

PAFEP brings together journal editors, publishers, reviewers, researchers, and academic institutions to collaborate on improving the quality and visibility of scholarly publications. Through training programs, policy guidance, professional networking, and knowledge sharing, the forum works to strengthen editorial capacity and modernize publishing practices.

Statute

Article 1 — Name

The organization shall be known as the Pakistan Academic Forum for Editors and Publishers (PAFEP), hereinafter referred to as “the Forum.”

Article 2 — Nature

PAFEP is a professional, non-political, and non-profit forum established to promote quality, integrity, and collaboration in academic editing and publishing.

Article 3 — Office

The principal office of the Forum shall be located in Pakistan. Regional or liaison offices may be established when required.

Article 4 — Aims and Objectives
  • Promote high standards in academic editing and publishing
  • Encourage ethical peer review and publication practices
  • Provide professional development and training
  • Support journal quality improvement and indexing readiness
  • Promote cooperation and networking
  • Promote digital and open-access publishing
  • Represent editors and publishers nationally and internationally
Article 5 — Scope of Activities
  • Organize conferences, workshops, and training programs
  • Publish guidelines and policy documents
  • Establish committees and working groups
  • Collaborate with national and international organizations
  • Offer advisory and capacity-building services

Bylaws

Article 6 — Membership

Categories:

  • Regular Members: Editors, publishers, journal managers
  • Associate Members: Reviewers, researchers, academics
  • Institutional Members: Universities, journals, publishers
  • Honorary Members: Individuals with outstanding contributions

Rights:

  • Vote in General Meetings (Regular Members)
  • Participate in Forum activities
  • Serve on committees
  • Access training and resources

Duties:

  • Uphold ethical publishing standards
  • Follow Forum rules and policies
  • Pay membership fees (if applicable)
Article 7 — Governing Structure
  • President
  • Vice President

  • Up to five Executive Members
Article 8 — Elections & Meetings
  • Term: 2 or 3 years
  • Elections through member voting
  • AGM once per year
  • Meetings may be physical or online
  • Quorum: One-third of voting members
Article 9 — Finance, Ethics & Dissolution
  • Funds used only for Forum objectives
  • Annual financial reporting
  • Compliance with editorial ethics
  • Amendments by two-thirds majority
  • Dissolution by three-fourths majority
